I have finished binge-watching the longest series of drama in US history and started to watch two news series of dramas. They are Supernatural, Twin Peaks and Game of Thrones.
First of all, the one that left me at the worst cliffhanger possible (in a good way). Well, it doesn’t show up in a list of 2017 Emmy nominees this year but, I got hooked on this series. I am a nerd. Well, I am not that nerd but I love games and scie-fys to some extent. And I played one game about 20 some years ago which was about the boy with the computer program that allowed him to summon and strike a deal with demons. Now I assume that the guy who wrote the scripts for Supernatural knew about the game because the concept and many of the wars that happened in the shows were exactly the same as the ones in the series of games. It’s just a guess and I’m not accusing the guy of plagiarism. If anything, I just want to express my gratitude and admiration for his talents because he/she put these all intricate and “complicated” elements into one. I love this kind of world. Then I love Dean Winchester and all the members of the Winchesters for that matter. They are defiant, resistant and have this wayward attitude even toward each other. And at the end of the day, not only humans but even demons or the gods get killed if they are in their way. It gives me catharsis. I am defiant. I am always taking issues with something. That’s the part of the reason why I love American culture. My life has been about kicking ass. In this case not literally punching someone in the face but more like fighting against the system and its people who think they can control others. Nobody owns me and just like British men of letters, when people blindly follow codes and not what’s right, I start to feel the urge and eventually end up fighting city hall. Anyway, I never felt my life has been so justified by watching the Winchesters do what they do. So, I watched more than 230 episodes in a month. I will watch them all over again at least for once.
Now Twin Peaks reborn. I loved Twin Peaks before. I watched X-files, Fringe, and Supernatural. I love those dramas. If you add the Defenders and maybe Dresden Files (mostly novels) and Game of Thrones, West World, and Stranger Things, you can see what kinds of dramas I love and you know what I mean by me being nerdy.
Anyways, Twin Peaks. I just finished watching two episodes and am watching the third episode as I am writing this column. Well, cutting to the chase, my reaction is “holy crap things got weirder.” Well, I kind of expected what I watched a long while ago. A story with some portions of the weird world according to Laurentis in between. Well, it has mostly violence and the weird world. Well, this may be the 2017 version of Twin Peaks. I still can’t figure out what’s gonna happen but so unpredictable that I just can’t get my eyes off the screen. Well, for me, this is worth watching just to see old Twin Peaks folks like Hawk, Jams, Laura and especially Andy and Pinky. (Oh there appears the FBI agent and the boss played by Laurentis himself. I watched movies Hidden and Dune, both of which are not so popular but if you like Laurentis and Kyle McLachlan, they might be worth watching. But once again I don’t recommend them. So even if you don’t like them, it’s not on me. I said that. Wow! Lol)
And finally Game of Thrones. I’ve been waiting for this to come out so long! I like Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Cerci Lannister and Danary Targaryen in different ways. I want our hero, Jon Snow, to accomplish his mission. I want Arya to settle scores and live a nice life. I want Cerci Lannister to show us the most beautiful, ethereal and picturesque at the same time the evilest existence and what she is capable of. She is the protagonist if this is a picaresque. And Danny. How will things go for her and Tyrion. And of course winter has arrived. I am excited about the final battle.
I still haven’t touched House of Cars. The Orange is the New Black is there, too. Oh, well, I don’t get bored And sorry for typos. I had two bottles of Corona and that’s enough to get me drunk. I rode my bike for 5 hours (100 kilometers).
