Well, been a while since I posted a piece here last. I have been so hectic. When I created this site, I was into biking. I was more interested in the culture of my own country a tad more than that of the U.S.
Then many things happened like I lived over half a century, I had a major sickness and I have now recuperated completely but seeing the vulnerability, and maybe the mortality of humans including myself, got me thinking a lot.
Now what’s my life about? Ever since I watched Sesame Street for the first time when I was 5 years old, I have been mesmerized, captivated and enchanted by American English sound and American culture. I was not a kid who liked to study but I studied or learned English hard. I went to the University to learn it more and then I live by teaching it. But I still love English.
I took the vocabulary test for native speakers of English and I was able to score more than the average American adults. I read (read 70 paperbacks in English two years ago, write (like this), listen (I always listen to CBS 880 (NYC radio) and watch Netflix, HBO and Hull (US version)), talk and even think in English.
Then last year, to get CELTA (a certificate by Cambridge University to teach adults English as a foreign language), I went to NYC and lived there for about 6 weeks. It was another amazing experience! I get this. There are so many problems in the U.S. But still it has some charms. I love NYC, the best of all the cities in the world. (And I lived in upper west, like 100th / Central Park West and I loved my neighborhood! I will definitely choose the place if I live there again!)
And I still ride a bike. I rented a bike and rode in Central Park, too. That was amazing.
Anyway, I sort of feel like starting to write again. Well, I am not sure how much I can keep up this promise and it might pan out bad but at least I will give myself a shot. 🙂
My neighborhood and the view of my neighborhood from the other side (east) of the Reservoir in Central Park!
